Statuses are your team’s way to track progress of a text item in Ditto, and keep relevant team members in the loop. Using statuses allows writers and other collaborators to work on the right text items, signal to reviewers when it's time to chime in, and lets developers know when text is ready for production.
Set a status
Select a text item to open the details panel
Click the Status dropdown menu and choose one of the four status options
Draft
In Progress
In Review
Final
💡 By default, a copy’s status is assigned as Draft when first imported into Ditto
Custom Status
Custom statuses are available for all Enterprise workspaces, allowing admins to create and customize copy statuses tailored to your team’s needs. Find custom statuses under Settings → Statuses.
Create a new status
Click + Add status
Enter the status label, key, and (optionally) customize the status icon and color. Then click save
Edit a status
You can edit any statuses in your workspace to your needs, including the default In Progress, In Review, and Final statuses. The only status you cannot edit is Draft.
Click … next to the status you want to edit and select Edit
Adjust the status label, key, icon, and color, then click save
💡 Click and drag to reorder your custom statuses alongside the default set to match your team's exact workflow, and hide the Ditto default statuses if they don't fit your process
Delete a status
When deleting a status that’s currently in use, you will be asked to reassign text items currently with that status to another status. Choose a status and click Delete Status to permanently delete it. This cannot be undone.
Statuses in Figma’s layer name
When you assign a status to a text item, Ditto adds the status label to the layer name in Figma. Designers can see the status of all text at a glance, even if they don’t have a seat in Ditto.
These status indicators are on by default. To turn it off:
Click the three-dot menu in the top right of the Figma plugin
Go to Settings and toggle Status indicator
Variant statuses
Each text variant can have its own status. For example, if the base text is Final, a Japanese language variant can still be set as In Progress.
By default, the variant text's status will be Draft. When updated, a variant icon appears in the web app with the corresponding status color.
