Blocks help you organize related text items within your Ditto project. They provide structure, build metadata, and create hierarchy, making it easier to manage and navigate your copy.
While blocks aren’t required, they’re useful for keeping things organized. For example, you might group all your footer text into a block called Footer.
There are two ways to create a block: importing copy as a block in the plugin, or creating an empty block in the web app and add text manually.
Import copy as a block
When you’re importing text from Figma, you can create a block directly from the Ditto plugin by selecting multiple text items.
Import text as a block:
Select the text layers you want to group in Figma
Click Import as block in the Ditto plugin
Name the block
In the web app you can see the new block with the imported text group in its own section.
Create an empty block in the web app
If you already have text items in Ditto, you can organize them into blocks manually from the web app.
Create an empty block:
Click +Create block in the web app
Name the block
Drag and drop text items into the block
💡 Use multi-select to drag and drop text into blocks faster
Link block suggestions
Ditto will detect repeated groups of text in your project and suggest you to link them. This keeps content consistent across your workspace.
Link a suggested block:
Open the Ditto plugin in Figma
Navigate to Project → Suggestions → Blocks
Review suggested blocks and link any matching ones
Alternatively, block suggestions will also appear when you select a block in Figma.
Delete a block
If you decide to a block is no longer needed, you can delete it from the web app. Any text items in the block will be preserved and moved to the bottom of the page.
