Ditto Scan reads your codebase and brings your product's existing text into Ditto. Instead of adding text manually, run a scan and Ditto will set up your library based on the copy that's already in your product.
What happens during a scan
Once a scan is complete, Ditto will:
Import the text from your code to your component library including any existing translation files. Each language is added as a variant.
Propose a content system with components, tags, variants, and developer IDs. You can review and give feedback on the proposed system before anything is created.
Check your text for issues like inconsistent wording, capitalization, and spelling. Flag the ones you want to fix and dismiss the rest. Flagged text is imported with the In Review status.
Infer a starting style guide based on how your existing copy is written. You can edit it before turning it on.
Running a scan
Scans are usually run by a developer, either from the terminal or by pasting a setup prompt into an AI coding agent like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex. When the scan is done, you can review the results in the Ditto web app.
