Once copy is in Ditto, it becomes a shared workspace. Anyone can comment, suggest edits, and track what's changed. This guide covers the core collaboration loop: how to give and receive feedback, and how to keep your copy and designs in sync as work evolves.
Step 1: Give feedback with comments and suggestions
Ditto gives you two ways to weigh in on copy without overwriting the live text: comments and suggestions.
Start discussions in the comment thread
Comments are for discussion. Select a text item, leave a comment, and @-mention a teammate to bring them in. They'll get an email notification and can reply directly in Ditto.
💡 Reply to a comment to start a thread
Suggest an edit without editing the text directly
Suggestions are for proposing edits. Switch from Editing to Suggesting mode before making a change — your edit is proposed but not applied until a teammate accepts it. This is the right default for anyone who doesn't own a piece of copy.
Make a suggestion:
Select a text item
Switch from Editing to Suggesting mode
Make a suggestion to the text and save
Once your teammate has reviewed the suggestion, they can accept or reject it. Accepted suggestions will immediately be reflected in the text.
Accept or reject a suggestion:
Find the suggestion under Comments
Click accept (✓) or reject (✕) the suggestion
💡 Suggestions are found under the Comments tab and teammates can reply to the suggestion comment thread directly
Step 2: Track changes in the activity log
Every edit in Ditto is logged with who made it and when. Open the Activity tab on any text item to see its full edit history and restore to a previous version if needed.
💡 When you make an edit using the Figma plugin, the change will also get tracked in Figma’s version history
Revert an edit to a previous version
If you made an accidental edit or decide a previous wording was better, you can revert a piece of text back to any version in its edit history.
Restore a text edit:
Select a text item and go to the Activity tab
Find the version to revert back to and click Restore
Step 3: Keep designs in sync between Ditto and Figma
Ditto syncs copy changes between the web app and Figma automatically when the plugin is open. You can also trigger a manual sync from either the plugin or web app using the sync icon (↻) in the top right.
💡 Keep the Figma plugin open to sync text in real time
Step 4: Review copy with design context
If you don't have a Figma seat, Ditto's design view lets you edit copy with the actual mockups in front of you. All text you can interact with is visible as an overlay on the frame — no Figma access needed.
While in design preview mode, you can edit the text, update its status, assign copy, attach library components, and more — just like in text view. Changes will be marked with a blue pen icon until the Figma mockup has been synced with the latest copy edit, after which the updated design will be loaded in the web app.
